About the role: We at Samsara are seeking Senior Business Application Engineer II to join our Corporate Systems team within the Automation Center of Excellence (ACE). This is primarily a full-stack development role — you will design, build, and own web applications, back-end services, and integrations that power our enterprise systems ecosystem. In addition to full-stack delivery, you will work on AI-driven automation solutions, helping ACE explore agentic automation, run targeted POCs, and bring the best ideas to production. ACE delivers high-value enterprise automations across Samsara's People, FinOps, Sales Operations, and Order Operations functions using industry leading Agentic technology (Workato, Claude, UiPath, Databricks). You will be a senior technical contributor on this team — leading complex full-stack projects end-to-end, acting as a technical SME, and collaborating with business stakeholders and Product Managers across multiple functions. Success in this role requires strong software engineering fundamentals, the ability to own and deliver independently, and comfort with iterating at pace. You will help set the technical bar for the team, influence architecture decisions, and mentor peers. This is a hybrid position requiring 2 days per week in our Bengaluru office and 3 days working remotely, open to candidates based in India. In this role, you will: • Lead the design, development, and deployment of full-stack applications and back-end services within the Corporate Systems / ACE ecosystem — owning features from requirements through to production. • Build and maintain RESTful APIs and integration workflows that connect Samsara's enterprise SaaS platforms (Workday, Salesforce, ServiceNow, NetSuite, Zendesk, and others). • Develop front-end interfaces using modern frameworks including using Claude that support internal tooling, automation dashboards, and business workflows. • Design and implement integration recipes on Workato and Workato One, leveraging platform capabilities including callable recipes, on-prem connectivity, and native AI features. • Contribute to the development and testing of UiPath RPA automations and, as a secondary focus, build and evaluate UiPath Agentic solutions — running time-boxed POCs to assess feasibility and handing off production-ready agents to the ACE delivery pipeline. • Leverage Databricks and AI tools (including Claude and Glean) to build data-driven and intelligent automation solutions where applicable. • Apply prompt and context engineering techniques to improve the effectiveness of AI-assisted features embedded in our systems. • Act as a technical SME for the ACE stack — providing guidance on architecture, code quality, and best practices to junior and mid-level engineers on the team. • Collaborate with Business Technology Product Managers and business stakeholders across People, FinOps, and Sales Ops to translate requirements into well-scoped technical solutions • Drive best practices in software development including code reviews, automated testing, and documentation. • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara's cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally. Minimum requirements for the role: • 7–9 years of software development experience with a proven track record of independently leading end-to-end delivery of complex applications. • 4+ years of hands-on experience with Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript for back-end development, API design, and scripting. • Strong experience with at least one front-end framework such as React, Vue, Angular. • Solid experience building, consuming, and designing RESTful APIs and integration patterns across enterprise SaaS platforms. • Exposure to public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). • Experience with enterprise automation or integration platforms (UiPath, Workato, MuleSoft, or similar). • Familiarity with Databricks or similar platforms for data pipeline development or AI/ML workflows. • Demonstrated interest or hands-on experience with AI/ML applications — including AI-assisted workflows, prompt engineering, or working with LLM-based tooling. • Experience acting as a technical lead or senior contributor: conducting code reviews, driving architectural decisions, and mentoring peers. • BE in Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. An ideal candidate also has: • Hands-on experience with UiPath RPA (attended/unattended bots, Orchestrator) and familiarity with UiPath Agentic Automation. • Experience with Workato or Workato One — recipes, callable recipes, on-prem connectivity, and Workato-native AI capabilities. • Experience working with enterprise SaaS platforms such as Workday, Salesforce, ServiceNow, NetSuite, or Zendesk. • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills — ability to translate technical complexity into clear business value for non-technical audiences. • Ability to manage and deliver multiple workstreams simultaneously in a fast-moving, iterative environment. • Experience running innovation POCs — defining hypotheses, time-boxing exploration, and synthesizing outcomes into actionable recommendations. #LI-hybrid Total Rewards At Samsara, we build for the people who keep the global economy moving.
